Auf die richtige Spur brachte mich der folgende Absatz [hier]( https://github.com/victronenergy/venus/wiki/raspberrypi-install-venus-image :

Now and then, installing a new image is required. There is a technical reason behind that, due to the way a raspberrypi boots. Basically: when we want to add new raspberrypi models to the list of supported models, update linux kernel significantly, or make some other fundamental improvements, then re-imaging is required. And pi’s running a prior installation will then not updated, and show “No update found” instead.

Etwas Recherche (und genaues lesen des letzten Absatzes) ergab, dass man leider tatsächlich für dieses Update das Venus OS komplett neu nach Anleitung  aufsetzen muss.

Nutzt man VRM, so muss man sich dort einloggen. Dort wird dann in der entsprechenden Installation ein roter Balken angezeigt, wo man einem Link für weitere Infos folgen kann. Dort muss man dann dass Authorization Token resetten, sodass das OS wieder unter der gleichen ID an das Portal senden darf.

Daraufhin durchsuchte ich das Netz, wobei ich auf verschiedene Dinge stieß:

Das half bei mir leider nichts

• Locker Space freigeben  - half bei mir auch nicht
• Manuell runterladen und installieren . Das funktionierte bei mir und war auch so wie ich es in der Vergangenheit gemacht hatte.

Für die Ausführung der letzten Problemlösung muss man auf die VMWare Seite für den Download  gehen und dort das “VMware vSphere Hypervisor (ESXi) Offline Bundle” herunterladen. Dieses ZIP-File dann ohne auspacken auf einen ESXi Datastore hochladen. Nun kann man via dem folgenden Kommando (Pfad zum Zip anpassen!) den ESXi updaten:

Dann einmal rebooten und die Sache ist gegessen. Sehr seltsamer Fehler aber wenn es sich so einfach lösen lässt will ich mich mal nicht beschweren ;)

Gehe zunächst auf diese Seite  und logge dich ein. Dann wähle den Hypervisor - was in etwa so aussieht:

Lade den Patch herunter und spiele diesen auf einen Datastore deiner Wahl (via Storage -> Datastore Browser im Webinterface), e.g. “120GBSSD”. Dann spiele das Update (Achtung Host vorher in “maintenance mode” versetzen) wie folgt von dort ein:

Das sieht dann etwa so aus:

Danach ist noch ein Reboot fällig und das Update ist erledigt.

Nach dem Download der Datei SMO_40_v8746R2.nibe habe ich diesen auf einen USB Stick kopiert (ich hatte den Stick mit dem Dateisystem FAT formatiert). Dann muss an der Front des SMO 40 die Klappe mit Hilfe eines flachen kleinen Schraubenziehers geöffnet werden.

Anschließend erscheint ein kleines Icon mit einem USB Stick.

“Ok” drücken und dann habe ich erstmal die Einstellungen gesichert (sicher ist sicher ;) ). Im Anschluss habe ich dann “Softwareupdate” gewählt.

“Update starten” wählen und losgehts.

Laufendes SMO 40 Firmware Update Wenn das Update abgeschlossen ist, wird das Gerät neu gestartet und zeigt links unten die neue Version an:

Version 8746R2 ist installiert

Dann kann der USB Stick wieder abgezogen werden und das Update ist beendet.

Zum Beenden von minicom reicht die Tastenkombination “STRG"+"a” gefolgt von “q”. Dann kommt eine Abfrage, die man bejahen kann.

Beginne mit dem Download des culfw source-codes auf ein temporäres Verzeichnis auf deinem Raspberry PI, bei mir /opt/culfw-code:

Für die Ausführung des nächsten Schrittes muss auf dem betreffenden SCC der Programmier-Knopf gedrückt werden, BEVOR und WÄHREND der Befehl ausgeführt wird.

Für jeden weiteren SCC den letzten Schritt einfach wiederholen. Zum Schluss habe ich nochmal die Versionen überprüft, was bei mir erfolgreich V 1.65 bei allen angezeigt hat.

Leider läuft die Installation nicht immer glatt. In meinem Fall blieb das Update bei 76% hängen. Am Rand stand: “Einstellungen werden konfiguriert 5%". Nach 6 Stunden Wartezeit musste ich einsehen, dass etwas schief gelaufen ist.

Nachfolgend die Lösung, die ich für eine erfolgreiche Installation des Updates gefunden habe.

Habe ich das Update schon?

Zunächst gilt es sicherzustellen, dass das Update noch nicht installiert ist. Da es sich nicht um ein klassisches Update handelt, wird dieses auch nicht in der Updatehistorie angezeigt. Die aktuell verwendete Version von Windows 10 lässt sich jedoch recht einfach herausfinden über:

Win + R drücken und “winver” ausführen.

Nach dem Update erscheint hier: Version 1511 (Build 10586.3)

In meinem Fall ist das Update also wirklich nicht nicht installiert.

Erstellung des Installationsmediums

Für das Update habe ich mir mittels Media Creation Tool  vorab auf einem anderen Rechner (optional) einen USB-Stick mit der neuesten Version von Windows 10 erstellt. Das geht recht einfach:

1. Leeren USB-Stick mit min. 4 GB einstecken. (wer Probleme vermeinden will, verwendet keine Billig-Sticks und lieber keinen USB 3.0-Stick)
2. Tool ausführen und “Installationsmedium für einen anderen PC erstellen” wählen.
3. Gewünschte Edition wählen (ein meinem Fall Deutsch, Windows 10, 64-Bit)
4. Starten und Warten. (Je nach Durchsatz des Internetanschlusses und des Sticks dauert dies 1-3 Stunden)

Vorbereitung des Systems

Der Update-Prozess ist scheinbar etwas mäkelig, was die Migration von vorhandenen Programmen und Einstellungen angeht. Daher sollte das System so schlank wie möglich sein. In meinem Fall haben sich folgende Tipps bewährt:

• Alle installierten Druckertreiber deinstallieren und die Drucker entfernen
• Virenscanner und Firewall-Lösung deinstallieren
• nicht gewünschte Bloatware des Herstellers deinstallieren
• Alle Peripherie (wie SD-Karten und USB-Geräte) abziehen
• Stromversorgung sicherstellen
• Als letzten Schritt die WLAN-Verbindung ausschalten und ggf. das Netzwerkkabel ziehen

Durchführung des Updates

Ist der Rechner so guten Gewissens bereit für das Update kann nun der zuvor erstellte Stick eingesteckt werden und das Setup gestartet werden.

Zunächst fragt der Assistent, ob neue Updates gesucht werden sollen. Da der Stick auf dem neuesten Stand sein sollte, kann dies verneint werden.

Anschließend kann gewählt werden, ob die neue Installation “leer” bleiben soll, nur die Daten umgezogen werden sollen oder auch dazu die installierten Apps. Die vorhandenen Treiber des Gerätes werden in allen drei Optionen gleichermaßen installiert. Ich habe mich für die erste Option entschieden, da sich mein System noch fast im Auslieferungszustand befindet.

Dann beginnt der Installer mit der Installation.

Zunächst wird das System analysiert. Anschließend wird ein Snapshot des Systems erstellt, auf welches im Fehlerfall automatisch zurückgesprungen wird.

Sind die vorbereiteten Schritte abgeschlossen, startet der Rechner in einen eigenen Boot-Modus und setzt das Update dort fort. In meinem Fall schaffte es der Update-Vorgang auf diesem Wege über die kritischen 76% und konnte nach ca. 2 Stunden erfolgreich beendet werden.

Nach dem ersten Boot bestätigt “winvers” nun die Version 1511:

Aufräumarbeiten

Ich empfehle im Nachgang an das erfolgreiche Update die Datenträgerbereinigung zu öffnen und dort die Option “Systemdateien bereinigen” zu starten. Damit lassen sich die angefertigten Notfall-Images bereinigen, die in meinem Fall immerhin knapp 19 GB beschlagnahmten.

Das Rom ist im e-Club von HTC verfügbar, ich rate zu einer Registrierung. Man sollte vor dem Flashen die Instruktionen genau lesen.

Gleichzeitig ist ein ROM für den HTC Diamond geleaked, welches anscheinend die “richtigen” Grafiktreiber beinhaltet. Leider sind diese nur für das Manilla-Interface des Gerätes optimiert, welches sehr viele 3D-Calls nutzt. Die 2D-Leistung ist hingegen extrem bescheiden, d.h. die normale Windows Mobile-Oberfläche wird nicht “richtig” beschleunigt. Daher bringt eine Portierung dieser Treiber auf den HTC Kaiser nicht so viel, wie ursprünglich euphorisch angenommen wurde. Schade :( Ich hoffe jedoch, dass sich trotzdem ein findiger Entwickler dieser Sache mal annimmt :)

Wie auf windowsvistablog.com zu lesen ist, soll der Servicepack vor allem Geschwindigkeit bringen. Bugfixes usw kommen ja sowieso durch “Windows Update”, sind aber darin nochmals enthalten.

Wie sich im Betatest herausgestellt hatte, gibt es noch Probleme mit einigen Treibern. Das Problem hierbei waren nicht die Treiber selbst, sonst der Installationsprozess der Treiber. Wenn das Update auf SP1 also ausgeführt wurde und ein Treiber nicht funktioniert, soll dieser neu installiert werden. Mit der Verzögerung des Releases bis Mitte März möchte Microsoft den Herstellern der Treiber nochmal die Möglichkeit geben, diese zu verbessern. Ich bin gespannt, ob das so klappt.

Der Zeitplan sieht wie folgt aus:

• Mitte März: Angebot des SP1 auf windowsupdate.com. Werden problematische Treiber festgestellt, wird nachgefragt, ob man das wirklich will.
• Mitte April: Installation des SP1 über die Automatischen Updates.
• April: Release der anderen Sprachen

Ein paar Zahlen zum Schluss: Derzeit werden etwa 78000 Geräte von Vista unterstützt (dank der vorhandenen Treiber). Über 100 Mio Vista-Lizenzen wurden bereits vergeben.

Ich bin mal gespannt :)

Die Releasenotes lassen folgendes verlauten:

• MKV HTTP streaming performance improved

• MKV chapter key handling (follows WMP)

• moves viewport when panning, instead of the image

• Audio output fixes

• fixed some AVI with DTS 96/24 output

• fixed AVI with PCM output noise when set to 5.1

• fixed HDMI no DTS output when AC3 set to PCM mode

• Fixed for 24 bit encoded FLAC playback

• Fixed playback video_ts over SMB stuttering issue

• Fixed Brightness/Saturation/Contrast not applied correctly in DVD playback

• Added language selection for DVD subtitle/audio (Danish etc)

• Fixed DVD with single subtitle track cannot be displayed

• Modified Volume range to improve usable range

• Volume range -15~+15, max 15dB, min -28dB.

• Detect .dts as DTS-WAV, starts playback with 0dB to allow uncorrupted passthrough

• Fixed incorrect downsampling of PCM audio for HDMI output source sampling rate > 48kHz

3. Photo app

• New Photo app
• added more information on display
• eliminate black-out gap between slides
• able to display monochrome JPEG
• auto rotation for photo (JPEG)
• based on EXIF orientation and below 2048x2048
• Brightness/contrast/saturation change (“Setup” + arrow keys)
• Slideshow fixes
• Auto rotation for jpeg 2111 profile
  • Known issue: Color distortion at the bottom of picture after +-90deg rotate.
• Color settings to follow preset value
• changed pan to moving viewport, instead of image (same as for movies)
• fixed mis-aligned position when performing zoom
• Fixed decoder crashed when displaying certain GIF file through HDMI
• Fixed certain JPEG rotation will crash decoder
• Known issues:
• for GIF/BMP/PNG, will clear screen when manually switch previous/next slide
• color distortion at bottom of photo when panning.
• no rotation for BMP GIF PNG
• no rotation for JPEG >= 2048x2048
• JPEG > 15MB cannot be displayed through HTTP
• BMP > 2272x1712, PNG > 4000x2400 cannot be displayed - checking
• Note: myiHome will transcode and scale-down BMP/GIF/PNG to JPEG

4. System/Browser

• Atheros WiFi WEP issue fixes
• added HDMI/DVI colorspace Setup option
• fixed wrong navigation flow after adding network share
• Modified Web Services UI pages
• Fixed when USB drive added/removed, issue with media source page refresh
• Turkish, Danish translation added
• Browser caching to harddisk
• Various translation fixes
• WiFi graceful teardown during reboot/shutdown to avoid crash.
• Browser modification
• pressing SOURCE key at “Media source” page will goto “Web Services”
• fixed browser using wrong cached image

5. Network

• NFS servers browsing supported
• SMB client fixes, additional checking to prevent from redirect to invalid/stale share folder
• Handling when network lost - proper unmount and page redirection
• NFS client fixes, reduce the retry time on NFS mount from 2 mins to 1 min
• Revert network IP checking for SMB/NFS share before mount attempt
• Fixed reset to factory settings occasionally failed after network configuration changed

6. 6. Subtitle

• Fixed extended character misaligned in MKV embedded subtitle
• Fixed bi-direction issue in Hebrew *.SUB
• Subtitle menu re-ordered and text modified
• A"Time"->“On/Off”->“Color”->“Size”->“Position”

Fixed Subtitle from myiHomeLite bug (QA#495) 7. Casgle client

• changed Casgle client name from “Casgle Client” to “Casgle iDVR”
• opened Casgle client service for SD mode too

8. Known issues

• PNG/TIFF support over myiHome broken
